The journey that the Lord has paved for me has been nothing short of one miracle after another. I commited my life to Christ while spending a night in the Houston City Jail in 1979. I received a call to the ministry while attending Sam Houston State University in 1981 while pursuing and receiving a degree in Accounting. I credit the staff of Chi Alpha Ministry (SHSU) as the lifeline that pulled me through the early infancy of my salvation. I married the most incredible woman I've ever known, Gayla Bryan in December 1980. Together, we've had the privilege of raising two wonderful children; Lindsay, married to BJ Munson of Willis, and Sean, married to Alexis Chrisoulis of Los Banos, California. Lindsay & BJ have blessed us with three amazing granddaughters which includes a set of twins.

I count it a huge privilege to be called and set apart for the work of the ministry. After pioneering a church in Houston, Texas in 1988, the Lord moved my family to Conroe, Texas in 1991 where I served under Pastor Lloyd Maddoux of First Assembly of God. In 1994 we moved to Shenandoah, Texas just north of Houston where the Lord placed a desire in my heart to start an Assembly of God Church in The Greater Woodlands Area. The River is the fulfillment of that desire and was started in our home in September 2003 with eight leaders meeting in homes training and preparing to launch the church to the public, which occured July 4, 2004 from Tinseltown Theatre in The Woodlands.

I am indebted to my former Pastor's and mentors: James McKeehan, Lindale Assembly of God; Joe Barnes, First Assembly of God Huntsville, and current Pastor, Lloyd Maddoux. These men have made a lasting impression on my life that God is using for His glory and the building of The River.

BEGIN TODAY!

1. Admit you're in need of a savior - Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God". Matthew 5:3 "Blessed are the poor in spirit (those in need of God)..."

2. Know that Jesus died just for you even while you were in sin - Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrated His love towards us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

3. Believe in your heart that Jesus died for you and rose from the dead - Romans 10:9,10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thin heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

4. Know that God will forgive every sin - 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness".

5. Believe that God will give you power to live for Him - John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he the power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."
